Anyone Else But You.

I'm taking a little break for the month of September.  I know this is really hard for you.  Fortunately, or unfortunately for most, my cousin Meg Kassing has asked to be a guest blogger.  I'm happy to oblige, mostly because I feel really really incredibly sorry for her.  (I'm being sarcastic, she is actually possibly one of the funniest people I've ever known.)

She has a blog of her own:
www.panhandlingwithclass.blogspot.com

Here is what she has to say about the song that's been stuck in her head:

There’s nothing worse than your privacy being invaded. Or your blog. Well, I’m going to try to do both today. By forcing my way in as a guest blogger on my cousins Blog, I hope to achieve the following:

1.  Help Brady establish a sense of popularity online. I once worked with him and he was nothing but a sad and lonely man in the corner office until I came and paid attention to him. He went from "loser" to a popular sensation overnight.

2.  Get this song out of my head.

3.  Remind you how much you liked the movie, Juno.

4.  Get this song in your head.

5.  Get on the Ellen Show.

The song that has been in my head for days now is "Anyone Else but You", by the Moldy Peaches.

And maybe it’s because they reference the cheat code we all used in Contra, but whatever, I like it.

Bear with me as I make an attempt at a metaphor. I’d like to think of myself as a coconut. Hard, maybe even impenetrable on the outside: but a strangely unique texture/flavor on the inside that will make you happy. (Is this my online dating profile?? No, no it’s not.)

The first time around, I was proposed to at a Training Table. I was 18, two weeks out of high school, and had a 2 month old baby with us during the proposal. It was about as romantic as the Love Toilet from an SNL skit years ago. In fact, I believe that had more romance.

I think I come off as a cynic to romance, because it’s never been something in my life. Well, unless you count the time I decided he spent too much time with his best friend and to make a point he paid more attention to him than me, I made them a candle lit dinner after they’d been out hunting all day which included the serenading of Tim McGraw in the background.

Maybe I am a hopeless romantic deep down inside and it is secretly coming out. This song is the perfect sense of taste for my kind of romance. No need for sappy fake love, just keeping it real with horrible singing and lots of humor.
