Lonely at the Top

This morning I woke up stewing and worrying about my kids.   My kids have everything you could ever want or need, and yet they seem unhappy-   This is hard for me when I feel like I've dedicated my life to their care and happiness.

As always happens, Music wandered into my head and the song that played this morning is a good one by the incomparable Randy Newman.  The song is called "Lonely at the Top" and is the second track on his fantastic 1972 album, Sail Away.  Listen!

I know this song is about a superstar who is still miserable.   But my brain drew the parallel when thinking about my kids. Then I came across this article and it made me think that I have a lot to change as a parent to help them in this day and age.  Read!

A neat week to all.

Solitude is Bliss/Blow Your Mind

I'm behind.  Maybe the blog will start fizzling into nothing- but here I am anyway.

Two songs today- one for sunday the 14th and the other for Sunday the 21st.  Two good songs- my brain is on a roll getting some good music on this blog, I just wish I felt excited about posting about it.

Anyway, here's the song from the 14th, "Solitude is Bliss" which is by one of my favorite new (to me) bands, Australia's Tame Impala.

This was the first single of their debut album, "Innerspeaker," from 2010.  Listen!!!

Alright, so the next song will be the earworm from Sunday the 21st.  This is Jamiroquai, a group which has grown on me more and more over the years.  I just love their sound.

The particular song is called "Blow Your Mind," it's also from their debut album, Emergency on Planet Earth (1993)  Blow Your Mind was the third single released from this album.  It's a good one, albeit maybe a little long.  LISTEN!!!

A hug.

Generations

My blogging has fallen WAAY by the wayside- it's taken me 5 days to get to this.  I wanna feel like I'm still passionate about this, and I suppose I am or I wouldn't do it- I just don't feel the passion to try to be witty, exiting or interesting.  So you'll have to settle for another "here's the song" post today.

The song stuck in my head Sunday morning was "Generations" from the great musical "Children of Eden"  If you're familiar with this show, you'll know that the first act is about Adam and Eve (they're like WAAAAAY Famous, from the bible you guys!) and the second act is about Noah and the Ark (slightly less famous and stuff)  Anyway, this song bridges these two stories as the second act starts.

It's a good one, this is a great show, with fantastic storytelling and music.

Here's "Generations"

Norwegian Wood

Here's one that gets in my head a lot.

This is "Norwegian Wood" by a silly little band called The Beatles.

Give yourself a high five if you like this song.
