Let It Happen

Once in awhile I get to blog about a song here and I get super excited to do it.

Today is one of those days.

This song comes from Australian band, Tame Impala.  From the first song I ever heard from this band, I was hooked- check them out.

Today's song is from their latest album, 2015's "Currents."  It's the opening track and it's almost time to listen to it:

But before you do, let me encourage you to listen to the whole song, it's almost 8 minutes long, but it takes a journey that it fantastic.  The whole album is about making waves, as even indicated by the cool, but simple album artwork.

"It's always around me, all this noise" Kevin Parker sings as he delves into the deep things in his mind that he's been suppressing and has been dying to let out.

"Let is happen" he demands of himself "An ocean growing inside" whether he's talking about his artistry, or something else, I'm sure we know what it's like to fight urges and to hold something inside.

Then something occurs midway through this electronic track, as the music sort of glitches and loses control, like a skipping record.  Then lyrically it shifts and he continues through a now manipulated and almost haunting voice repeating over and over:

"I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next train
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that"

and then a counter-melody:

"Oh, maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe I was ready all along
Oh, maybe all I wanted was the sound
Oh but maybe I was ready all along"

Wow, I love it.

Farts.  (I wrote that because technically this is a humor blog, but I don't want you to think I've gotten too serious)
