Blogs are so passe and pretentious. Oh well, here's my blog about music that's stuck in my head when I wake up in the mornings along with adventures of the Cash family and wacky wacky crazy wacky shenanigans.
My goodness, this Meghan Trainor girl is everywhere these days. My daughters have been blasting this song, again and again.
As of right now, May 29th, 2016 at 6:14 P.M. the YouTube video currently has 42,228,809 views. (I'm pretty sure about 1 million of those views are from my daughters alone!) Amazing considering that this video has been up for just over 2 weeks!!
Here's Meghan Trainor's new hit song "Me Too" enjoy the song stuck in my head- it's a catchy one, friends:
This music video is the very one that made headlines for having photoshopped Trainor's thighs to appear thinner. She was furious and made them pull the video. Isn't that neat?
Then of course there was that one time that Trainor fell performing this song on the Tonight Show. They offered her the option to do another take and she declined. Isn't that neat too? She's neat.
Here's one for you- I haven't heard this song in a couple of decades. This little masterpiece of a song comes from Billy Joel, back when he rocked a piano in the seventies.
The opening lyric was in my head as I awoke this morning: "Bottle of White, Bottle of Red"
As a kid me and my brother used to add a third line. Boy were we clever! "Bottle of Pink Polka dots with yellow stripes!" Of course with our sheltered Mormon youth, we had no idea that Billy Joel was singing about wine.
It's great listening to this song with more mature ears. People have compared this 7 1/2 minute song to the second half of The Beatles' "Abbey Road" Please listen, I think you'll like this one.
Here's "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" from Billy Joel's 1977 album "The Stranger"
Random thoughts to go along with this post:
First, I've been thinking about Billy Joel and Elton John. They were the kings of piano pop in the seventies, Elton John obviously had more success, and some would argue that Joel came in on Elton John's coattails. I think of them as apples and oranges- to use a musical cliche, Elton John is the McCartney and Billy Joel is the Lennon; the former being an extroverted showman and the latter more of a troubled introvert. I, myself, prefer the latter.
Next: Did you know that Billy Joel has not released any music in over 15 years? His last work was a classical composition in 2001 called FANTASIES AND DELUSIONS. I don't know where I read or heard it, but word is that when the album was panned by critics, Joel called it quits. I can't confirm if this is true, and I'm too lazy to find a reference. Regardless, I hope the master is enjoying his retirement- the man worked his butt off in the 70's and 80's.
Last random thought to go along with today's song title. I lived in Italy for a few years. I love it there and I love authentic Italian food. I'm giving a plug for what I consider to be the two best tasting Italian Restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley. Make a reservation to:
CUCINA TOSCANA 282 S 300 W SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84101 (801) 328-3463 INFO@TOSCANASLC.COM
and here's the other:
Michelangelo Ristorante 3005 S Highland Dr.
Salt Lake City, UT 84106

Next time you're thinking of going to eat at Olive Garden, please go to one of these places instead. You're welcome.
Yay Blogging! Yay Billy Joel! Yay yummy Italian food!
The first concert I ever went to was in 1995. It was Tears For Fears. They are great! What happened to melody? Nobody seems to appreciate it any more. This tune is fantastic, straight out of 1985- here's "Head Over Heels" the song stuck in my head y'alls.
Side Note:
I went dancing the other night with my wife. Today is Mother's Day and tomorrow is her birthday so I pretty much had to get out of my comfort zone! (I'm a terrible dancer) Anyway, the club where we went was playing some awesome 80's music, and they played this song. It was so fun to hear it, it's been years and I forgot how much I love this band/song.
Guess what?!?
I've blogged about enough songs to fill a compilation disc! Yes, you know what that means! It means it's time for me to do another giveaway.
I really love doing these giveaways- I like sharing music with people and it's such a strange and fun way to connect to the world. Even if only a few people come and visit this blog- I really look forward to doing this every time.
So, here's what I'm giving away this time.
FIRST!
Like always, a compilation disc of the songs I've been blogging about over the last 6 months or so:
"NOW THAT'S WHAT BRADY'S SUBCONSCIOUS CALLS MUSIC, VOLUME 2"
I'm really proud of this mix! It's got a lot of variety and some songs that really get you moving- it covers a lot of various genres and ventures over several decades! I think you'll like it. And since it's Mother's Day, I'll tell you that my mom gives this compilation "one and a half thumbs up!"
NEXT!
Here's a 25$ gift card I have leftover from Christmas. It's from Zappos! You can buy shoes there you guys! This is real money that I'm giving away y'alls!
LASTLY
Here are a few "Compact Discs" I have lying around. Dear Millennials- A compact disc is a device that makes music! You don't even need a smartphone to use it, it's pretty neat. These albums are pretty gr8. My mom has listened to 2 of the three albums and she says they are "pretty ok"
Anyway, here they are
"EMPLOYMENT" By The Kaiser Chiefs
"BLACK & WHITE 050505" By Simple Minds
AND Max Pain & the Groovies SELF-TITLED album (Fun Fact, Max Pain is a local (Salt Lake City) based musician, I've had a fun time getting to know some of his music through this album)

Neat indeed. Have a fun week my dear, dear friends.
There was another huge windstorm in our community last night. The winds took out trees and fences from several of my neighbors.
We fared well, again, except that I was up most of the night taking care of scared children.
Happy news :)
This rad song was going through my head all night long:
This song is by English musician Stephen Wilkinson, otherwise known as Bibio.
This is what he looks like:
Today's song is the sixth track on Bibio's 2011 album which is called "Mind Bokeh"
You may have gathered that the song is called, "Take off Your Shirt"
This is what Bibio looks like without his shirt:
Bibio writes some gr8 music, but he should do something about that back hair you guys!
lololol
Anyway, I really like this song. I'm just now getting into Bibio's music and what's great about it is he usually has more of an electronic kind of sound and this one just rocks with some serious electric guitar.
Speaking of rocks- have a rockin week. I love music and I love you.
