Do It Again

3/30/20
Yo Andrew,

Never in my life did I think that I would be blogging about a song by Steely Dan.  Nothing against the group, just honestly have never listened to them.  The other day kind of messing around on Spotify I listened to their 1972 debut album "Can't Buy a Thrill"

"Do it again" is the opening track and you've likely heard the song.  It was stuck in my head this morning y'alls.

I hope you have a neat week and I hope you don't catch Coronavirus

J

3/23/20

Dear Andrew,

Whelp turned 41 yesterday and I guess whatever.

I know I've played Reggie and the Full Effect a little bit for you.  You may or may not know that Reggie released a record in 2008 called "Last Stop Crappy Town"   The record is very different when it comes to Reggie's music... more serious.  In fact, James Dewees (he's the guy behind Reggie, maybe better known for playing with The Get Up Kids) was going through some serious rehabbing when he wrote this record.

Did you notice the name of this song?  It's really called "J"

J references, I believe J St. which was a stop on the subway James took every day on his way to rehab.  The whole record sounds and feels like a runaway freight train on its way to hell, up until the very end.  I dig the record although it's pretty dark, and there's some scream-singing going on.

Today's song, which is probably the most commercial sounding, also features some of this screaming stuff.  I'm curious what you think of it?  For some reason, I forgive Reggie when he goes all scream-o on me.  But most people I know can hardly stand it.

Stay safe in your house quanrenteening!

HUGS
Brady

YouTube refers to this song as J Train.  Neat neat neat.

Mysterious Ways

3/18/2020

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for being the only friend who reads this.  Today's song is brought to you by U2.  I don't think I've blogged about them here yet, but I'm too lazy to look it up, so maybe I have.

Anyway, it's an oldie but a goodie, from 1991's masterpiece (in my opinion) Achtung Baby, here's mysterious ways.

Happy early summer to you (does it feel that way, I bet not!)

Hugs.

Brady

P.S. just confirmed that of the 450+ blog posts I've done, this is in fact my first about U2.

So neat.

So so neat

Lay There & Hate Me

After completing now my 23rd music compilation, I seriously debated about retiring this blog.  Then I remembered that Andrew looks at it still, so I guess I'll keep doing it.  And I still enjoy it enough I suppose.

Hi Waaandy.

I've thought about turning this into a podcast instead of a blog, but by the time I do that, podcasts will likely be passe, just like I probably missed the boat on blogs.  Always a few years behind, I just started streaming music too.  I suppose I'm one of THOSE guys.

Anyway... here's the song from 3/9/2020

It's from Ben Harper and Relentless 7, the band he cut one album with in 2009.  It's pretty good.  This song is too.

It's called "Lay there and Hate Me"

Sister Christian

Here's an oldie but a goodie.

'Sister Christian' the 80's power-ballad by Night Ranger.
