I Touch Myself

Well, we're all here to have a good time aren't we?

So don't be offended by the song stuck in my head. 

Honestly, usually I always have a melody of some kind going in my head.  This morning, this was not the case.  I woke up, and nothing.....totally blank.  Then I was like, "oh crap, I'm supposed to blog today" and so I forced a song into my head, and this one was the first I thought of. 

You likely know the song, and you should know that it's probably PG-13 rated, so this isn't for sensitive ears:

 

 

 

 

Wow, is this song really from 1991?  My my my....

 

So I didn't know anything about the band behind this song.  They are called Divinyls.  They're Australian, and formed in 1982.  "I Touch Myself" is from their 4th studio and self-titled album.  They released one more album in 1996 before going on hiatus. 

 

Divinyls was fronted by Chrissy Amphlett.  Tragically, Amphlett lost her life in 2013 after a battle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer.  This song was an enormous hit for her and the band, and whether you're offended by the song's content or not, you have to admit, it's an incredibly catchy melody.
