Today's song came as a HUGE surprise, it's from a fantastic (and relatively unknown) band called Rodeo Ruby Love. This is "The Coming Up Roses" which is the 6th track on their 2010 album "THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
Before I show you the song, let me tell you what's great about this track:
Lots of things.
First and foremost though is that it's not a typical pop song by any means. It's a little 'all over the place' and presents several different ideas as it progresses. But the best part, for me is when the band comes in singing in unison (think 'Carry That Weight' by the Beatles)
Most of us had hit rock bottom
before we chose to acknowledge the effort that goes in.
Most of us were strapped for meaning,
so we stood up and started swinging and landed a good shot on the chin.
Most of us were riding shotgun
1970 Plymouth Valiant to Carmel and back again
I don't know what it is about this song, just the energy of it all and the band members singing in unison, it's just rad.
Guess what!?!? Today's song gives me enough music to have filled another compilation disc, NOW THAT'S WHAT BRADY'S SUBCONSCIOUS CALLS MUSIC! VOLUME 3.
You could win this disc. I don't want to make a big deal about this, but just leave a comment here and I'll send you a copy of this disc along with some other surprises. Seriously, just make a comment. I dare you!
(If I happen to not know you, maybe leave a way I can contact you, email or phone number or address or something. If you aren't comfortable doing that you can email me cashbrady@gmail.com)
And now the sad part, where we say goodbye to each other.
That was neat!
ReplyDeleteI haven't forgotten the mix I owe you! It's just giving me a little trouble with nailing down the theme and getting the "flow" right.
