Come Together

4/27/2020

Hi Andrew,

I bet you bin dyin' ta know witch song wuz stuck in me head this week?

Are you dying??!?

You'd think it may be something from Reinhold Messner since that concert we did was a year ago, but sadly, such was not the case.   But I did give that record a good listen on Saturday.  Man.  I love it.

But fret not, something great is coming......

The other day I was just messing around with the kids, singing about quarantine and I started singing a couple lines of parody to this song.  "Sta-ay apart" instead of come together.  It was so great. Move on over weird Al!

He got facemask
He got, ly-ysol
He got, grumpy children
He got, Tylenol

Stay-ay apart! Right now!  Quarantine!

Anyway....
Is there a better opening track to any album of all time?  I love this song.  I love Abbey Road.  I love the Beatles.  I love the way the bass, drum and Lennon sing/whispering "shoot me" just pound with coolness as this opens.

Good song.  Good times.  Good buds.

Have a gr8 week.

Brady

5 Dollars

4/20/20

Hey Andrew,

(until somebody else fesses up that they're reading my blog, these posts will continue to be addressed to my bestie Wandy Z)

This is a new artist to me, Christine and The Queens.  According to the interwebs, is actually a one-man (woman!) show made by French artist Heloise Adelaide Letissier.  If you pronounce her name correctly on the first try, I'll give you a dollar.

I listened to this album a couple of times because the production and sound of it is really pretty good.  The album is called "Chris"   A little redundant, Chris by Christine and the Queens of Chris.  Chris.  Chris Chris.  The album is kind of neat because there are two discs, same songs, first disc in English and second in French.  Because I'm anal about listening to an album in its entirety, I listened to in consecutively and put one of the tracks on a playlist.  Listened to the playlist and heard the song and now it's in my head OK?  This is how it works.  OK?

The song is called "5 Dollars" although when she sings Dollars in one syllable the way she does in the song it sounds like she says "5 Dolls"  What a crazy, crazy Frenchie!

Wild times, Wandy.

Here's the song:

I didn't check to see if that link worked.  Let me know if doesn't.

Hugs, Brady

Not Like You

4/13/20

Hey Andrew,

Happy Easter!  Having a neat, neat time in Quarantine here.

I just learned that the word Quarantine derives from Latin and means 40.  Likely to do with so many biblical references to 40, during times of famine, curses, wandering in the wilderness for 40 years etc.

So very neat.  Hopefully it means that we'll only spend 40 days in quarantine, but I doubt it :(

Anyway, here's a weird one playing in my head, from 1986, by super-pop girl-group, The Bangles.  It's the final track on their hit album "Different Light" and the song is called 'Not Like You'

Fun fact, I never listened to this album until I blogged about "Manic Monday" some time ago.

I hope you like the song stuck in my head Waaandy.

Yo Andy,

Have you heard this song by George Harrison?  It's from his 1970 solo album "All Things Must" pass.  I've never given the record a listen, but I will soon.

I love this song:

As I was talking to my brother Bucky about this song, he told me that Harrison was sued for copyright infringement and eventually he had to surrender 40% of the proceeds to Bright Tunes which owned the rights to "He's so Fine" by Ronnie Mack (it sounds just like the song, oops)

Poor GH.

I still like the song and I'm embarrassed that I've never listened to a George Harrison record.  I'll fix that soon.  Glad this one got stuck in my head Mondee Morning.

HUGS.
