Love and Hard Times

I don't even know where to begin with this song.  It's called "Love and Hard Times" and it's by the legend himself, Paul Simon from his 2011 album "So Beautiful or So What." 

This song is deeply personal to me.  Not only is it gorgeous, musically, its lyrics get me every time. 

It starts of painting a picture of God and Christ visiting earth and quickly leaving to create other galaxies.  Then it talks about God's children and the struggles they face.  And then it sort of shifts to a relationship- and the whole thing is just so simple and lovely.  The lyric that kills me toward the end is this one:

"It's easy to be generous when you're on a roll.
It's hard to be grateful when you're out of control"

And then Paul Simon creates this hopeful picture of a helpless, scared person being nurtured by his lover.  "Thank God I found you in time"

So beautiful.  So simple.
